MY WIFE WAS IN ST. JOSEPH'S FOR 42 DAYS LAST OCT, ON THE 26TH MY WIFE WAS KILLED OFF FROM THE CONSTANT DOSES OF HYDROMORPHONE. SHE HAD PARKINSONS, BUT NOT THE SHAKY KIND, IT WAS A MOBILITY ISSUE. THE REASON I TOOK HER IN WAS I COULD NOT FEED HER, AS HER MOUTH AND THROAT WERE CONSTRICTED, DUE TO A DRUG CALLED DOMPERIDONE WHICH WAS TO HELP HER ELIMINATE, BUT THE SIDE EFFECT WAS HER NOT BEING ABLE TO SWALLOW, THIS WAS OVER A FEW MONTHS OF USE OF THE DRUG. I TOOK HER IN ON THE 15TH OF SEPT BY AMBULANCE, AND SHE WAS IN EMERGENCY. FOR 3-4DAYS. ON THE FIRST DAY WHEN THE DR. SAW HER HE ASKED WHAT HER PROBLEM WAS, AND I TOLD HIM IT WAS BECAUSE I COULD NOT FEED HER. STILL, SHE ALSO MENTIONED SHE HAD SOME PAIN IN HER LOWER RIGHT SIDE, BUT THIS PAIN WAS NEVER THE REAL ISSUE, AND SHE NEVER MADE ANY COMPLAINT TO ME ABOUT IT, SO THEY SENT HER TO GET TESTED, ONLY TO COME BACK AND TELL US SHE HAD STAGE 4 OVARIAN CANCER!! TALK ABOUT KICKING A PERSON WHEN THEIR DOWN!!, SO THEY STARTED HER ON A REGULAR DOSE OF HYDROMORPHONE, AND ON THE LAST DAY WHEN I WAS WITH HER SHE WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY BREATHING, DUE TO EXCESS PHLEGM BROUGHT ON BY THE CONSTANT DOSES OF HYDROMORPHONE, I CALLED THE NURSE TO CLEAR HER BUT THEY COULD NOT GET THE PIPE DOWN HER THROAT, AND THEN PROCEEDED TO GIVE ANOTHER TWO SHOTS ONE MORPHONE, AND SOMETHING TO HELP CALM HER DOWN. I WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES, AND SHE SEEMED TO SETTLE, SO I WENT OUT TO GET A DRINK, AND BY THE TIME I CAME BACK SHE WAS GONE! My friend was diagnosed with a severe neurological illness (after taking the Covid vaccines) she was quickly put onto the "palliative care pathway" (doublespeak) Morphine and Midazolam were prescribed despite having no pain, she died within two days and I had no power to stop it as her relatives were fully on board. This was not palliative care it was the ruthless disposal of a life judged to be not worth living, at no point was my friend told that it would mean certain death for her and this is by no means uncommon, not one single person has the right to end a life. We who knew those sterling good people also grieve and some of us are bewildered about how to worship. One of my great uncles was a priest who was a canon lawyer. I wonder how he would advise you. You know that the canon court only proceeds in written form.
My brother is learning disabled and has to go into hospital occasionally. My sister is a health professional who keeps oversight. But given the wrong situation, we may be encountering a situation similar to yours.
I am Catholic and in health care , now only research. I had no idea what how hospice care was used until I had to watch a family member go through it. He was being treated for returning cancer in remission for almost 30 years although there was not much evidence for this. Most of his symptoms were from the previous treatment 30 years prior. They did some surgeries and when that did not work they put him on harsh chemo which almost killed him. Because of his age (50) they wanted to do less harsh chemo but he refused and they immediately shuttered him off to hospice care. He opted for home. I had never witnessed hospice and it is still a bit of a blur how fast he went. Looking back though I now see hospice is just a morphine overdose. I used to tell myself this care was compassion but it did not look peaceful or compassionate. And to think this goes on in so called Catholic Hospitals is just heart breaking. I know the Church in America lost its way a long time ago but for Catholic Priest to condone this while preaching life is demonic. We all need to pray. I know it is worse in other Western Countries, especially The Netherlands and Canada but America is not far behind. This is what happens when we exclude Jesus from our lives. We all need to pray that this cold murder cloaked as health care ends soon. Praying these cases will expose the truth.
